New DRE Continuing Education Requirements
Effective March 2008

Effective March 1, 2008, the California Department of Real Estate will impose new continuing education final examination requirements, effecting procedures and minimum passing grades.

All Live Courses:  All Live DRE-approved courses will conclude with a final exam.

Currently, only live "mandatory" continuing education courses (such as Required Agency, Required Ethics, Trust Fund Handling, and Fair Housing) must include a graded final exam. The new regulation will require a final exam for all live continuing education courses.

Minimum Passing Grade:  The minimum passing grade will be increased from 60% to 70%.

The minimum passing grade is currently 60%. The new minimum passing grade will be 70%.

Final Exam Time Limits:  The maximum number of credit hours that you will be permitted to test on in any single day will be limited to 15 total hours of credit. This will not effect 1st Time Salesperson License renewals.

Currently, students who are enrolled in a 45-Hour License Renewal Program may complete all of the required final exams in one day. This new regulation will limit the total testing time to no more than 15 hours of credit per day, or a minimum of 3 calendar days to complete all final exams. This new regulation will not effect first-time salesperson license renewals.
