DRE EDUCATION UPDATE

Many of our students, brokers and associations staff members have been contacting our office about the "new DRE Education Changes Effective July 1, 2003". This is probably because one company is sending massive numbers of e-mails and faxes around the State with a "Chicken Little" warning that the sky is falling and you better do something now. The new changes are very minor for anyone who currently has a license.

  1. After July 1, 2003, Live Agency, Ethics, Trust Fund Handling and Fair Housing students must take a final exam. All sponsors, like our company, have submitted their exams for approval. The exams are extremely simple with a 60% passing grade and will be difficult to fail.

  2. Effective also July 1, 2003, any person who submits a license application to DRE after they have passed the State Exam will have to complete a course in Real Estate Practice as one of the three courses to get a regular license.

There are some puzzling changes for people taking the sales or broker exams in the future.

Effective May 1, 2003, the DRE is making changes to the tests for Broker and Sales Licenses. These changes are being phased in gradually. A few questions are being added to each test as you read this e-mail However the DRE will not grade these questions until they have been used a few months.

What do these changes mean? No one has any concept and if they say they do, they are fibbing. If you want to talk about them, please give me a call at 800-439-4909.
