ONLINE FINAL EXAM PROCEDURES

The following instructions outline the procedure for taking any Online Final Exam. Please follow this procedure carefully to ensure a successful transmission of your exam. If you experience any problems, please contact our office at 800 - 439 - 4909. Our office hours are Monday - Friday 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. For correspondence questions, the best hours to call are from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. so problems can be resolved that same day.

Due to the nature of Internet testing, the following instructions must be followed accurately.

STUDENTS WITH A 9-DIGIT STUDENT ID AND PASSWORD:

All of your final exams and PDF-formatted (static) reading materials will be accessible via the Student Work Center ("SWC"). You may access the SWC by clicking on the Student Login link located immediately beneath and to the right of our graphical banner on our Home page. These instructions are repeated in an automatically generated e-mail that will be sent to you immediately after you successfully complete online registration. Should you not receive the e-mail, please notify the office.

DRE MANDATED WAITING PERIODS

Once you receive your materials, your DRE mandated waiting period will begin:

  • All Salesperson and Brokers Renewals: 5-day waiting period after receipt of materials

  • College-Level (Broker) courses: 18-day waiting period per course, sequentially

Start reading your materials as soon as possible. All orders will include PDF downloadable materials when possible. You'll have immediate access to all reading materials once you complete the order process.

The SWC will inform you as to when you may take a final exam. Once the required waiting time has been met, "Test" buttons will appear in the SWC. Click on the "Test" button to take a final exam.

You may be presented with a pre-exam sign-in page. Please provide all information as requested. Your exam will start as soon as you click on the "Proceed >>>" button.

STATUTORY PRE-LICENSE REAL ESTATE COURSES WAITING PERIOD

The DRE requires a minimum of 18-day waiting period before taking the final exam. This allows students enough time to study the course materials and gain better understanding about the subject.

Once the waiting period has passed, you may take the first exam. If you fail the first exam, a second exam will be available immediately. In the event that you fail both exams, a mandatory 18-day waiting period must pass before taking the first and second (backup) final exams again.

ALL STUDENTS TAKING AN ONLINE FINAL EXAM:

Read and answer each question by clicking the most correct answer. After answering all questions, click the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the exam page. An "Are you sure" prompt will display. Click the OK button to submit your final exam for grading. Your final exam results will be displayed. Return to the SWC by clicking on the navigational buttons only. In the SWC display, a "Print" button will appear for each successfully completed final exam. Click on this button to display and print you certificate. Certificates of Course Completion will be presented for printing if the exam grade is 60% or better for College-Level exams, and 70% or better for Continuing Education exams.

The time limit per final exam varies. All exams are multiple choice and you are allotted 60 to 90 seconds (average) per question depending on the type of exam. A Time Remaining clock appearing on the final exam will keep you aware of how much time is remaining. Don't left the clock intimidate you. You can complete the final exam with plenty of time remaining.

The "Final Exam" is timed. Should you run out of time, your exam will be submitted for grading.

The exam is not printable or downloadable (per DRE regulations).

Sometimes students are disconnected by their Internet Server Providers ("ISP") or dial-up modems partway through the exam. It is recommended that you keep track of your answers on a separate sheet of paper in case of ISP or modem issues arise.

Once you submit your answers for grading, you will be notified of your grade immediately on the screen. By DRE regulations we cannot provide you with a grade. Once you earn a passing grade, your Certificate of Course Completion will be made available for printing when you return to the SWC page.
